Radcot classic festival of speed 10 June 2017
There's an event scheduled for June 10th on the island opposite the Swan at Radcot (Thames).
The event is aimed at classic cars, motorcycles and boats and I've managed to secure us some free moorings on or near the island. There's free camping also available for this event and I believe limited accommodation available in the pub.
If you'd like to come along, drop me a line

Hi Pat - where was this advertised. My mooring is about 4 mile upstream. I have not heard anything about this event. Would be nice to meet up with some other forum members and have a look at their boats.

Thanks Pat. Not much detail yet.
The Swan Inn has been sold recently we believe to a private buyer. When I spoke to one of the ex-bar staff a couple of months ago, they had no idea what was to become of the pub (it has to remain a licenced premises). As the pub is no longer run by last years landlord or Green King Brewery - just wondered if all field bookings were still valid? I hope they are. We use the field for one of our events.

He's in contact with the new owner, and told me that it's a much better place that in was last year.
I'll probably drop in by car soon and check it out, it's not far

Just made a post on the Swan Radcot Cruiser Club message board in the hope of attracting some of the several Freeman owners to the event and the forum.

Any more news on the Radcot festival of speed Pat?. I have had no feedback from the Radcot cruiser club Freeman members. The Four Ferrets may be attending but has not committed yet.

Re: Radcot classic festival of speed 10 June 2017
We had a meal at Ye olde Swan Inn a couple of weeks ago. A lot of changes inside and out for the better. Bar was crowded at 5pm (good sign). I have not found the best beer (to my taste) yet from their own micro brewery - still got a couple to try, I may have to try them several times before I'm sure. Food was very good, but had to wait 1hr 20mins to be served even though there was only a few tables being used. They did give us one free steak as an apology. We will give it another go at the Festival. I'm still working on Four Ferrets, he may be at the club tomorrow.
See you at Radcot

Trying them all is certainly the way to go Jim
I'm rather partial to the hammer and tongs myself.
Looking forward to it

This is only a couple of weeks away now
If you are planning to attend by boat and haven't done so already, can you please fill in the events form to ensure that I give the guy the correct details.

Went over to the Olde Swan yesterday to check that the beer was still up to scratch and to have a catch up with Ken (Fridays Child) who it recovering from a knee replacement.
Glad to report gat the beer is to a good standard and Ken is doing amazingly well, single handing his boat two weeks after major knee surgery

Re: Radcot classic festival of speed 10 June 2017
Unfortunately we've lost a couple of boats so if anyone was thinking of attending last minute, we have reserved mooring space available.
It looks like a good weekend. The military and classic bikes will be going on a ride out to the repatriation memorial at RAF Brize Norton to pay their respects on Sunday morning, which should be quite a sight (and sound). Entry is free, but any money made from the event via donations will be going to the Royal Legion poppy appeal.

Really enjoyed the Radcot weekend - Some very interesting bikes and cars. Thanks for making the arrangements Pat. I was hoping there would be a F27 to look at - but maybe next time. Was also good to meet Ken. Best of all was the Anvil . Hope to meet you both again soon - Jim

Hi Jim
We had a great time, some of the bikes took me down memory lane and I thought for a first attempt it was very good.
It's on again for next year, with a bar, food and toilets on the island and perhaps a large marquee to shelter from the wind
We're up your way a couple of times over the next few weeks, I'm sure our paths will cross

I'm up for next year - even thinking of giving the broads a go next year. If Barry or me are around when you pass - stop for a chat

I don't think you'll regret a visit to the Broads
We really enjoyed it and the cruise in company across Breydon was all sorts of fun
