Freeman Forum - Broads meet Empty Freeman Forum - Broads meet

Post by Simritdave Wed Sep 10, 2014 4:49 pm

Following the succesful inaugural @Freeman meet this year and the many requests to do it again, I have pencilled in this date for the get together.  I am also going to explore the posiibility of holding it at Salhouse Broad, that way, anyone wanting to arrive by car will be able to do so.  We could also consider a "Cruise in Company" later in the day/early evening if that would suit most folks.

Welcome to the new forum, I will work with this date and firm it up early next year.  It was posted as much as anything, to try and prove out the calendar functionality.
I saw lots of Hampton Safaris a couple of weeks ago CIC up to Salhouse, hence my idea for such a meet and cruise.
I have asked The Prof to prepare an A5 flyer on how to join the forum, I'll get some printed and keep them on the boat.  When I meet fellow Freemaners on The Broads, I will pass on the details, try to get them to join on here and attend our get together next year.

An idea to steal from the Norman forum.....

Laminate (so they are waterproof) some 'business cards' for the forum and tuck them under the wiper/in the cockpit of every Freeman you see. If everyone does it, the news will spread quickly to those who need to know.
Step back and watch the membership grow.

I'm planning on 01st August at Salhouse Broad (TBC) for the day, maybe a "cruise in company" to get there.
Details to follow soon. Busy week this week, Dubai, Qatar and now Saudi. Good news is, I'm in the departure lounge and will be back with you infidels tomorrow.
Watch this space.

Post by Simritdave Mon Mar 16, 2015 3:43 pm

Ladies and Gentlemen,  I have been in contact with the nice people at Salhouse Broad, I can indeed secure moorings for our get together on Saturday 1st of August  sailing Parking is available for folk intending to arrive by road.
I need to give an indication of boat numbers (I hope for around 10), along with an £8.00 payment by end of May. Broads boats that intend to be there, please send me a PM, I will start a register and give details of where to pay the money to (I will colect it and send off to the relevant authority).
The plan, as good as it is at present, is moorings will be available from 10:00am
We can spend the day doing whatever Freeman owners do throughout the day wine  smashed   .

Late afternoon, we can take a steady cruise in convoy along to Wroxham Broad, returning to the moorings for an overnight (if required, included in the £8.00).

I hope we can get a few more boats this year (we had 8 for the innaugural meet). I will also post on the NBF along with details of this site.
Get out your diaries and get planning.  More to follow.....

Sounds good, suspect it will be 2 possibly 3 of us arriving by road, and maybe utilising Salhouse Broads camping corner.  Hopefully we will be able to blag a lift for the cruise in company, is the thinking to bring individual picnics/BBQ's/Beer?

Amazingly, I can log in now!
Yes, this sounds good. No boat unfortunately unless they build a canal between Brandon and Beccles in the meantime.

Dave, can you clarify this question? £8/Boat or landlubbers arriving by car too?

The charge will be for mooring.  There is a small car park located within a short walk of the broad and this is free.
