THAMES MEET 2016 27th to 29th August
We have been offered (and gratefully accepted) the use of moorings at Ashmount House, South Stoke for a Freeman meet to run from Saturday August 27th until Monday August 29th 2016.
This is 500 yards downstream of the venue used in May 2015 directly opposite the Beetle and Wedge pub. The moorings are flat manicured lawn up to the river edge, and about 80yards long.
Camping/Caravans are permissable on site.
Car parking is permissable on site.
No moorings are available for Narrowboats at the site.
We have been offered pratical support from Sheriden Marine and are in discussion for a special shop purchases discount at Sheriden Marine for attendees over the weekend.
The meet will be publicised in the Sheriden Marine news letter and is open to all Forum, Facebook and Twitter members, Freeman owners and enthusiasts.
I shall open a list for attendees to get an idea of numbers in the new year and post more information as arrangements get firmed up.
A final thought. I believe in the past one club had 40 boats in attendance at this venue, wouldnt it be nice to beat that record?
A registration form for the meets is available in the events tab at the top of the page
Or follow this link https://freeman-cruisers.forumotion.co.uk/portal

Re: THAMES MEET 2016 27th to 29th August
Thanks for your efforts with this again Ken
Hopefully this link will take you to google maps and the site
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/South+Stoke,+Oxfordshire/@51.5482493,-1.144488,20z/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x487697b4e6d529b1:0xc285f9419d167525?hl=en-gb
As you can hopefully see, it's a nicer location than last year and Ken won't have to get his strimmer out
You can put the flame thrower away for another year Chris
We can arrange early access to set up, dogs and even kids are welcome
There is accommodation available at the Beetle and Wedge and the Perch and Pike which is about a 10 minute walk.
http://www.beetleandwedge.co.uk (I'm sure we can arrange a river taxi if required)
http://www.perchandpike.co.uk
The 40 odd boats were rafted 3 deep, bet that was cosy

Excellent work Ken, although are you sure? Its a bit further for you to go than last year, I'll have to work out, if I take Stravaigin down to Southend, then Mick drives it from there to the meet, will we beat your furthest traveled award? Anyway put us down, do you want our team to do the party BBQ and Gazebo supply? Hobgoblin and Rebellion on standby.

Tony Tugboats has repeated his kind offer
Please give him plenty of notice if you would like to take him up on this
As per other freeman gatherings I am happy to transport any Freemans up to 3000kgs to and from at cost for the week before and week after
Please give him plenty of notice if you would like to take him up on this

Re: THAMES MEET 2016 27th to 29th August
Hi all, please include Barbara and myself. Also please give me a shout if there is anything I can do to help especially as we get near to the time. Is this instead of the proposed gathering upstream of Osney Bridge which I think was going to be around the same time of year as the meet this year?

Re: THAMES MEET 2016 27th to 29th August
Hi Kevin
This one seemed too good an opportunity to miss with advertising from Sheridan and a nice location.
The meet above Osney that we spoke about offline has dropped off my radar a bit, but that's not to say that we couldn't squeeze something in if there was enough interest. I'll give it some thought and perhaps start another thread rather than confuse the issue here.

Cheers Pat, it is early days but it looks as though we might be able to build on the event that took place earlier this year. Already looking forward to it.

All being well, will be attending the Thames meet but staying in the comfort of the Pike and Perch. Look forward to seeing some new faces and the guys that made it to the 2015 Salhouse do from the Thames area.
See you in 2016 here and the Broads meet ?

Hopefully the ad in the Sheridan newsletter will bring some new faces and boats along
Might be worthwhile asking Andrew if they will put both dates in the newsletter....Ken?

Re: THAMES MEET 2016 27th to 29th August
Thanks for the offer of help Chris I will let you know. We have several things offered by Sheriden including a gazebo and barbeque which would only requiring floating downstream if suitable.
Do EA issue licences for unpowered barbaques? Of course if its a gas fired one I will get a bss cert first. Sorry I digress.
I will waive my entry to any distance award as this will be part of my anual trip and its a bit embarasing to set the venue then win any award.
Although i knew nothing regarding the May distance award until being presented with it. A lovely surprise and an honour.
Re the broads trip attendance. Yes i intend to be there and if early plans come to fruitionn so will Fridays Child, now i have access to a trailer.
So much to do so little time.
Thanks to all for the interest expressed so far.

I have a 4x4m old fashioned frame tent that the front comes out of. I thought I might take it over a few days before and set it up as somewhere to get out of the sun

For those that don't know the area, this is the location for the Thames meet, we'll be opposite and slightly downstream of the 22 (Naturally the 22 is pointing upstream )

Excellent find Pat, a big help to those not familiar with the area. Lets hope the weather is similar at the time of the meet.

That's a coincidence, there's a pub called the perch and pike in South Stoke as well, must be very confusing for the villagers look forward to seeing you again bank side.
