Freeman 26 / BL1.8 diesel for sale - Brundall *SOLD*
I have mentioned previously that my F26 Davina is for sale due to my medical incapacity. After 36 years of ownership it really breaks my heart to part with it. Price would be much reduced (£8500) from my earlier publication here (which I cannot find anymore).
If you're interested I can be contacted on 01328 851185 or pm on this site.

DAVINA
After 36 years of ownership my Freeman 26 Cruiser is for sale due to personal difficulties that have occurred affecting my balance that could prove dangerous.
The vessel was built in 1966 and has been Part One Registered all its life. In 1987 it was fitted with a totally rebuilt BL1.8 Diesel and has covered more than 2,000 hours to date. The prop shaft is fitted with a very efficient 'Deep Sea Seal' replacing an original stuffing gland.
Drive is through a Borg-Warner hydraulic gearbox operated by a Morse Single Lever control.
In 1993 the boat was completely re-wired with the fuse panel being resited to the wine cupboard in the cabin where power was divided into an 8 way fuse board. At this time an Autohelm Tri-Data and remote reading compass was installed, the compass 'sender unit' being located under the port fwd bunk while the sender unit for the Tri-Data was installed within the engine bay.
Twin 12v 100ah batteries are installed feeding through a 3 way selector switch.
A Waeco 12v/240v Refrigerator supports the helmsman' seat while a matching removable seat can quickly be erected to stbd in the cockpit.
VHF radio is fitted, the main unit being within the cabin with an extension speaker mounted in the cockpit.
An HFL Marine air conditioner unit is installed under the stbd. fwd bunk, this unit is sea water cooled and is connected to the adjacent sea water cock originally intended for a sea toilet; because this unit is mains powered an inverter was also installed, the inverter also supplies mains power to a microwave cooker mounted atop the wardrobe.
The vessel is also fitted for thermostat controlled central hot air heating except that the power unit has been removed due to failure, the hot air tubing installed is 2" ID and would suit a Propex 2Kw Heatsource burner as replacement.
Gas Alarms are fitted beneath the cooker and in the main engine bilge for the gas fired heating burner.
Shore Power is fitted giving constant power supply to the marine battery charger as well as to a power point within the cabin.
All fuel hoses were brought into line with applicable Boat Safety Scheme requirements, fuel tanks (2 x 15 Gal) both of stainless steel were removed, pressure tested and appropriately marked. New hard top and stainless steel hand rails were also fitted at this time.
Water (22 Gals) is stored in a pillow tank beneath the aft dinette seat with deck filling point to port.
New Dralon Tonneau Hood having window privacy curtains fitted 2014.
Upholstery and curtains have been renewed in matching shades, the upholstery over CMHR foam cushions with modified zipped back rests to forward bunks able to contain sleeping bags when not in use.
Interior cabin roof is fitted with handrails to port and starboard.
A CQR anchor is fitted and attached to a short length of chain - itself connected to 100 ft approx. of 2" Marlow nylon line secured to the hull; an alternative mud weight stands on deck as an alternative for Broads use.
A Life Ring is within the wheelhouse together with a five rung boarding ladder able to be placed on the transom for rescue purposes or for propeller clearance if rope fouled.
An Intruder alarm is fitted but presently switched off.
The exterior of the vessel is original cream gelcoat finish currently in need of a good clean, a few small surface stress cracks are evident at screen fixing points as well as some mooring rub marks on the hull near the waterline.
The vessel does have osmosis on the hull although it has never affected general seaworthiness.
Currently the vessel is moored on a very good rising pontoon mooring having proved quite capable of withstanding all weather to date in a D.I.Y. Boatyard on the River Yare.
The vessel is very individual having been wholly maintained and adapted by its marine engineer owner throughout its current ownership.
The vessel has BSS Safety Certificate until 14 July 2019 and is currently licensed for use on the Broads.
If you're interested I can be contacted on 01328 851185 or pm on this site.

Jim, I know from our conversations it must be a terrible wrench to part with a boat you have owned for so long and in some ways is part of the family, a decision that has been taken with a heavy heart
Myself and Jo would be pleased to welcome you aboard Flittermouse for a few hours if that would lessen the pain. You have my number if you wish to take me up on the offer some time, and we would all hope to see you at Salhouse in July
Good luck with the sale, the new price makes it an attractive offer, somebody will get a good deal !
Derek

Probably worth a mention that Tony Tugboats specialises in moving Freeman's if this boat is of interest to you but in the wrong location

Yes, the boat is still for sale at £8000, please don't pursue if the price is beyond you! Time wasters are not appreciated.

Hi Jim
I know a guy who's looking for a boat for that kind of money and isn't afraid of putting a bit of effort into it.
I can't say for sure that he won't kick your fenders, but as Norfolk is quite some distance from here a few photos would help
