The horizontal part of the mast is called the yardarm.
And as everyone knows, when the sun's over the yardarm it's drinkie time

I had to spray the shades with chrome paint to diffuse the a bit further, but I'm happy with the result

Marine carpet fitters can breathe easy, that's not a job I want to do again

Re: Freeman 23 - Anne
Hi Prof, lovely 23 you have there. I really enjoyed my carpet fitting adventure second time of fitting. I obtained some cardboard and used it to make a floor template of my 23. I was able to fit it exactly by butting various pieces of cardboard to the edges which I then stuck to the rest using gaffer tape. After placing it upside down on the carpet I then used a stanley knife to cut it out. Fitted a treat.

Re: Freeman 23 - Anne
The old one was done in three bits so I taped them together, cut round it. I left it a little large all the way around then trimmed on the boat. Worked out quite well, I'm not really happy with it under the V berth, so I'm planning on rope edging that bit

That sounds professional to me. There isn't a carpeteer degree lurking inside you is there? Can you post a pic when you've done it please, I'd love to see it. Happy rope edging!

Just been admiring your interiors especially the engine and propulsion areas. I'm embarrassed! Just lovely, like new. Not easy.

Thanks although I have to admit that the vast majority of it is not the product of my hard work, I was lucky enough to buy her that way.

So be it! It's a joy to look at. A standard to strive for, with a lot of effort, even to maintain! Thanks for posting initially. Really enjoyable.

Re: Freeman 23 - Anne
Hi John
Anne is the boat
I was lucky enough to buy her with that work done
I also have all the paperwork that went with that project, so if you need any help with suppliers and alike, I have it all in a huge folder. The prices are probably a bit off now though.

It was in 3 bits that would move individually and starting to fray around the edges

Re: Freeman 23 - Anne
Anne is in at Sheridan for an antifoul and lower strake varnish.
It's the first time she's been out of the water since 2012, but I'm happy with what I found
At this stage she's only had a pressure wash

It was good to meet Stephen today, who recognised Anne and popped over to say hello while I was T-cutting the topsides. I'd forgotten how tiring it was working with your arms over your head and appreciated the distraction

Looks another 3 years worth of antifouling still on there Pat !
Always pleasing when she comes out to find no problems . (Bent P bracket for instance)

Re: Freeman 23 - Anne
I had talked myself into there being possible prop issues. She's hit bottom a few times when the water level has dropped while we sat on a mooring. I wasn't sure if she had anodes (she hasn't) but she has shore power as do most of the boats around her in the marina, but everything looked and felt good

The bottom mud is nice and soft on the Broads, you have to be very unlucky to do prop damage
