Magic Moments - Freeman 23 Hardtop
Hi all
Thought it was time I uploaded some pictures of MM as I've spent so much time and effort getting her into shape
Due to work and other commitments, I haven't even had chance to get out this year and it is nearly June so we'll see how much we get out this year.........
I am 'thinking' about selling her as I HATE the fact that she isn't being used and someone else could get so much pleasure out of her that I simply don't have the time for (you have all heard that before I'm sure and probably thought it yourselves.......) If you know of anyone who might be in the market for a 23, can you PM me and I will give you more details, as I say still undecided but for the right price but more important the right person..........

Re: Magic Moments - Freeman 23 Hardtop
Hi all, I've had a few messages requesting further details so I've put some more details below.
I'm looking for £7995 ovno due to the work and new parts I've put in, that's a fair price for the condition and what else is on the market at the moment (yes there are cheaper but not in this condition).
Due to work commitments, I am reluctantly selling my 1974 Freeman 23 hardtop ‘Magic Moments’ which I have spent many hours and lots of money restoring and bringing her back to what I consider to be in good condition.
Magic Moments is a classic Freeman cruiser with the usual four good berths, spacious interior with a well-equipped galley offering comfortable and versatile accommodation.
In the cockpit area there is an original bench seat in excellent condition which runs the full width of the boat. There is a brand new helm seat and double opening doors leading into the cabin area.
There is a useful galley with sink, hob and cupboards, an original Freeman table to comfortably seat 4 with storage underneath and this area converts to a double berth when required.
There is a wardrobe and toilet compartment with Porta Potti (NOT a sea toilet which you can’t use in rivers) and there are V berths in the bow with an infill to convert this to a large sleeping area.
An ideal starter boat or a classic to be maintained and loved, a low air draft and economical engine making river cruising a dream (currently moored on the River Avon in Warwickshire).
Some of the features include:
Technical Specification
Vessel name: Freeman 23 Hard Top
Designer: John Freeman
Year constructed: 1974
Berths: 4
Cabins: 1
No. of engines: 1
Engine model: Ford Watermota Sea Tiger
Engine power: 35
Fuel type: Petrol (Gas)
Cruising Speed: 5 knots
Maximum Speed: 9 knots
Length over all: 7.01m
Length at waterline: 6.75m
Beam: 2.28m
Maximum draft: 0.66m
Bridge clearance: 2.1m
Hull material: Semi Displacement
Hull type: Semi Displacement
Displacement: 1685 kg
Fuel capacity: 60 Litres

Thank you Rich
The BSS is being retested in June and I don't anticipate any issues so it will have a new BSS and I am looking for around £6k as I am moving and no-where near a river so reluctant sale !!

Thank you for that, yes it is and I hope it will sell to someone who has more time to appreciate it, maybe in a few years I can wind down and try again but I hate seeing something going to waste......

Good luck with the sale. Your boat sounds wonderful and just what I'm looking for. I wish I had a bit more in the budget. I'm sure there's someone out there who will be able to enjoy her though. In the meantime I hope you can find some time to enjoy her.

Re: Magic Moments - Freeman 23 Hardtop
It’s worth increasing your budget if you can, I’m pretty sure that everyone on here will agree that the cheaper boats are usually cheap for a good reason, you end up spending as much getting them up to scratch as you would have done buying a better boat in the first place.
If you’re after a project and want to spend time doing a boat up of course, that’s a different matter

I have found with boats (and women !!!) that no matter whether you pay top dollar or bargain basement you continue to pay out more than your expected budget !

That is a real bargain for 6k. It would be 8.5k on the Lancaster canal at least.

Don't forget, Tony Anderson (Tugboat Tony) will move a boat that's not in your area to your selected moorings. Freeman specialist !

Morning, Yes I haven't sold yet, had a bit of interest but if you'd like to PM me we can discuss to see if it is what you are after and the current position. Thank you Flittermouse re Tony, I know the guy at my marina does it too but Tony has a great reputation so always worth a conversation !

Re: Magic Moments - Freeman 23 Hardtop
Hi guys, I had a couple of enquiries over the weekend but we have decided to move the boat closer to our new house and keep it for at least another year to explore the end of the Avon we haven't yet seen.
Thank you for all the kind comments and feedback (all positive which was great), if we do decide to sell next year, it will only be through this forum.......
