Meets 2016
Ok, unless I've missed it there has yet to be any definite suggestions, Thames was poorly attended, (although at least we put up a good show for Salhouse) but I'm sure we can do better, Salhouse was, IMHO, a triumph,so, where we going next year? Or like my daughter, are we going vegan, meet free.
The Ouse, The Avon, The Trent, Lincoln, all been suggested, in fact do we know where the greatest concentrations of contributors are, hence the likeliest probability of a decent turnout. We will travel, but would like to bring our own boat to at least one. Yes she is going in next year.

Re: Meets 2016
You've not missed anything Chris
Thames meet is coming together and has great potential to have much better attendance than last year, and a large expanse of mown grass
I'm sure Ken will post when he's got everything set.
It will be later in the year this time, so you'll get plenty of notice

After my experience picking up the reins after Dave absconded (after doing most of the hard work !) I could be persuaded to give it a whirl.Prof Pat Pending wrote:As for the broads meet...any volunteers?
Where? Northern or Southern Broads, Salhouse again ? (was good). Any other suggestions ?
When ? August BH ?
When's Ken planning the Thames (?) meet ?
More fool me, never volunteer

Re: Meets 2016
I noticed that you put all the effort into last years meet Derek
Salhouse was a great venue, but happy to leave it up to you being the local.
As for the date..not August bank holiday I'm afraid (we had very little choice..all will become apparent)

Salhouse was good for me..... it is a good broad. Nice moorings.... handy for Wroxham.
Campsite on site.... simple parking.... easy access for less able.
That's probably a few of the reasons it was such a success.
Avoid Aug bank holiday.
I can't promise to bring the boat next year, but would certainly camp.
There does appear to be a few boats around Lincoln..... Not too hard for me and we may even get to see Jon and Debs on board!!!!

Re: Meets 2016
I agree Deano, will give Salhouse a ring in the next week and see what dates they could accommodate us (not Aug BH), but will need to give a gap between Broads and Thames meet (Ken when are you thinking ?)
Hope we can duplicate last times weather ! That really helped.
Pat, do you think we should separate the Broads/Thames meet posts otherwise it could get confusing ?

Re: Meets 2016
Hi Derek
Thames meet is the BH, hopefully Ken will add more detail later today, but he's enjoying his boat
TBH Dave found it far easier to pick a date and say that's when it is, rather than to open it up to debate. You'll never please everyone
Once you have your date, add an event in the calendar (Find your date, click on the little 1 lower corner of the box) which will automatically open a linked thread of the same title

Re: Meets 2016
Pat, I wasn't reckoning on turning it into another " burgee" subject so now I know what date to avoid (Thames bash, good luck Ken, may even get there myself...by car !) can fix a date , plenty of time for you guys to plan for.

Re: Meets 2016
For what it's worth, I would strongly suggest that The Broads meet is kept in the North. I believe there are more active boats and a good chance of getting another good turnout.
I am delighted Salhouse was a success and given the obvious benefits Deano mentions and the helpfulness of the local Rangers, would support another meet there.
Not sure if I will be in the country, but rest assured, if I am, I will be there.

2016 Broads meet
Dave, I am waiting for Belinda at Salhouse to return my email with dates available June/ July 2016 so as not to clash with Ken's arrangements for Thames bash. Once I have that will publish chosen date and continue with arrangements as per last year.
One thing I think needs clarifying is the day charges for mooring (£4.00 2015 prices)should still be paid if not stopping overnight, these are usually collected on the day by the ranger.
Overnight mooring (£8.00. 2015 prices)will be pre paid/booked via myself once confirmed date/booking start coming in
Will post more when date available, let's hope for kind weather !

Re: Meets 2016
Lady Elizabeth IV will be at Salhouse 2016 for sure and will stay over Saturday night. Also looking at options for bringing Lady Liz on a trailer down to River Thames Meet and having a boating holiday down there as well.. Gotta love retirement and a bonus of friends at Henley so somewhere to shower after a couple of days ...

There are a number of options for showers on the Thames. Give me a shout when you know what you are thinking and I'll give you some options
