Freeman 33 - Pipedream
Bank Holiday W/E and we have arrived in Goole, so as reqested some photos from the trip.
Overnighted at Torksey then to sit low tide out after miss timing the run and arriving early we penned into Keadby
Those who say narrowboats are not for the tidal river this chap was on his way to Keadby.
We met some proper shipping near Trent Falls and up to Goole.
We have some video we are sorting and will put up later.
I am trying to get some of Pipedream from another boat.

As requested a few of the interior

Wow.... good photos.... BIG ships!!!
Thats a section of river I would like to do one day. I used to live by the canal in Woodlesford, by the lock on the outskirts of Leeds, ... maybe one day....

Re: Freeman 33 - Pipedream
Nice to see another 33 on the forum. I have a F33 Sedan. She's got a single Ford Mermaid 80hp diesel and was built for a hire boat operator here in Ireland. She is in private ownership for around 8 - 10 years now. I bought her 2 years ago. She was fairly tired when I got her but I'm making my way through the very long jobs list.
I painted the hull and replaced all the ply in the aft cockpit in the last few months.

Hi I'm proud owner of 33 Sport this year and my wife wants us to cuddle up together in the front berth
My boat doesn't have the infill between the berths and I saw your does making it into a very nice double. Do you know if there is one available to buy or is there a design somewhere I can copy.
Very nice Boat.

The infill is quite simple, it is 2 pieces of ply with a lathe down the edge the buts up to the doors,
and a single triangular cushion that goes on top. I will take some pictures of the parts next time I go to the boat if it helps

Pictures tell a thousand words ! Good info Pipedream. One thing missing ? The existing berth edges already have the moulding that the infill rests on (on mine anyway)

Yes thanks pipedream. Mine are the same as fitter so will need to do some sort of mod to make it fit.

Great photos of your trip and of your boat. I have cruised from Torksey to Keadby many times and around to Goole and return twice. Your photos bring back memories.
For those who have not done the trip to Keadby yet it is worth the effort, just take advice and timing from lock-keepers and use chart, radio, life jackets, anchor etc.

Are you still at Torksey, Do you know if I would be able to get through Lincoln and down to Boston.
It is 1 of the options for a route to the Broads next year

Re: Freeman 33 - Pipedream
Data shows the Glory Hole to be 2.8 meters. But it is an arch and I don't know if that is a maximum boat air draught or a measurement to the apex of the arch.
2.8 meters is 9' 2" and according to the web, a Freeman 33 should be 8' 2" with nothing on the hardtop roof. So at 'normal' water levels you should be able to get under without too much trouble.
NB. This is based on internet data...... not personal experience!!!
The Broads is well worth it, take plenty of fenders and be prepared to moor stern on. You WILL get hit by other boats. It's a fact of life.

Re: Freeman 33 - Pipedream
Yes I'm still at Torksey. I asked a club member about his boat and the Glory Hole and his response is below:
It's a 33 Sedan.
If the guy hasn't got anything on the roof it will go through with ease.
Just take it steady and once committed keep going because if you back off the rear lifts up. Also watch side clearance through glory hole.
I hope this helps.
Good luck.
