Southern Broads meet 19-21 May 2017

Beccles Meet
I've still to make contact with the Harbourmaster re 2017 prices but on their website there is a list of prices for,:
24hour Stern on/side on/ditto plus electric
short stay 10am- 4pm

What I'm not sure is if this is 2017 prices and whether a discount applies to block bookings, but it does give an indication of what to expect. Scoll down to the bottom of the webpage

We have interest expressed from nearly a dozen boats plus a couple by car so far, so it does look as if it will be a success

Looking at another Forum that have used Beccles in the past it may be moorings requirements have to booked directly with the Harbourmaster. I will check this out and let people know in good time.

Note. I have about 60-70 email addresses to update people coming or interested in our events by bulk email (dont worry, your email won't be available for all to see, l will use Bcc) if you have not been before or not sure if l have your email please let me know by PM etc.

The good news is I have now spoken to the Beccles Harbourmaster and he has confirmed the prices on the website are current and can be pre-paid as a block booking.  
(They are reproduced below.) 
The HM will reserve the number of moorings booked, individual moorings will not be allocated, moor in line as you arrive

I will need to know the following which if you complete the recommended registration form will all be on there. (If not you will need to PM me with the details)  but preferably register as by that means any last minute changes can be emailed to you.
Registration forms will be available soon to download, keep an eye out.

Minimum info Required:  
Name/email / Boat name / stern/ stern+electric / duration
BBQ's are allowed,  (bring your own)

Gazebos/tents would need proof of insurance and a risk assessment, so unless anybodies willing to deal with this, it's a NO (Reason: Public / Guy ropes !!) 

So going on from here, if you want a confirmed mooring

1. Complete the registration form (available shortly)
2. Work out your required days /nights/short term, then costs and put it on the form.
3. You will receive an email confirming your booking and amount, it will have my email address to enable you to ......
4. Pay ME by Paypal (as a friend) the amount due.(fully trustworthy!!! )
5. I will pay the HM the total booking cost. 
6. If you ain't paid folks.... No CONFIRMED MOORING will be available.
7. Casual on the day owners may get a mooring, maybe not and possibly away from the group.

Sorry to sound so official, but keeping tabs can be nightmare for me, (Salhouse last year ) so please do the right thing, make it simple for me, AND finally have a great time

I'm hoping to come by car, but with my true Yorkshire roots I want to do it as cheap as possible.....  Is there a campsite within staggering distance???

Failing that, is anyone prepared to put up with me crashing on their boat for the weekend.   I'm reasonably house trained, have been known to drink a bit and may even have farted in my sleep, but there is no conclusive proof surrounding the latter!!

The events tab at the top of the forum will now open the registration form.

There are other options on the form that will open when you make the appropriate selections.

If you make a selection error, but then go back to correct it, it may throw up an error....sorry in advance if it does, the downside of using a free form provider.

Hello folks RAGTAG here.
I just thought that anybody coming to the Beccles event from afar might like to know that Petrol and diesel can be obtained from the WAVENEY RIVER CENTER at Burgh St. Peter on the river Waveney, also at Brooms in Brundall.
Note that these are the only places on the Norfolk Broads that sell Petrol

What sort of price are we looking at for petrol ?

Sorry I took so long to reply, we were away for a few days.
The answer is more expensive than top Garage prices. I don't know exactly as I have not put any in this year yet, however the nearest Garages are a long walk, at least it exists at these two Boatyards.

I have registered for the Beccles meet on the Forum page. We will arrive Friday and leave Sunday. When will we need to make payment?

Hi Raymondu, look forward to seeing you there, and thanks for booking up, so much simpler for me.

OK, Pat (Admin) is sending me a list of folk that have booked with details of days/nights/electricity etc in the next couple of days.

I will send you out an email shortly after that with the amount owing and options to pay me (PayPal/ Bank transfer/ cheque)

I will need your payment at least two weeks before the event (5th May for Beccles) to enable me time to reserve moorings and pay Beccles Yacht Station.

Any payments or bookings after this date will have to take their chances as to securing a place, hope this is all self explanatory, any questions please come back to me, and finally let's hope the weather is kinds and we can all enjoy the weekend

Hello Everyone... I have called the Waveney River Centre, Burgh St. Peter and they do have petrol for boats at £1.50 a litre. 25p - 30p a litre more than most garages but hey, if you are one of only two places actually on  theNorfolk Broads that sells petrol to boats I am surprised they are only that price. They are open 09:00 to 17:30 every day.

Hi - I don't have a Freeman yet ( still looking for a good narrow beam 22, mark 11  ) but as only live a few miles from Beccles I would like to come along and stare with Envy - Mike

And you'll be very welcome Mike.  I have a narrowbeam (no you can't have it), they are a bit rarer than the full width 22 MKIIs.  Hope you find one soon.

Hi Mike, why a narrow beam ? Do come along and have a good poke around the boats, most owners are very happy to spend hours telling you what they have done and what they have planned for their Freeman !
Hopefully next year we will run the same event and you will be able to bring YOUR boat.  Look forward to welcoming you for this time, you won't be the only one that will be coming by road not river.

Beccles 2017

In case your still deciding to have a look in at the Beccles meet in May whether your crossing the "Shark Infested Sea" aka Breydon (Apologies to Arthur Ransome) or having to negotiate the Old Road Bridge at Beccles (6' 6" at HW) the tides are kind that weekend. 
Low water varies from approx 13.15hrs on Friday to 15.30hrs on Sunday so good for the Potter Higham equivalent bridge of the Southern Broads.

As far as crossing Breydon, slacks vary from 11.00 hrs on Friday to 14.45hrs on Sunday, ideal, so nothing stopping you !     (All times approx)
