Hello I'm Nick and we have just purchased our first Freeman, a 1972 23. She has been well cared for by her previous owner who purchased her from a friend of his 15 years ago.

Our boat was re engined with a Ford diesel 20 years ago and has had lots of bits replaced, rechromed and repaired over the years. She certainly needs a good cut and polish as well as the rubbing strake revarnished and decks repainted.Window seals and sponges decks have been done over the last couple of years.

Whilst we have owned her for two weeks we have only been out for a one hour run so far but that was enjoyable and uneventful.

This is our third boat and our second on the Thames. Some years ago we had a Birchwood 25 on the river and then a Fairline Corniche on the Solent. The Freeman is very different to both and should suit our requirements for messing about on the river perfectly.

I will no doubt have lots of questions and this forum seems to be a friendly and helpful resource.

Best wishes

Nick

Hello and welcome, proper boat for the river, put the two Thames meets in your diary for next year.  August Bank Holiday South Stoke Mid Thames Meet and BBQ, weekend before tidal Thames cruise in company, Richmond to barrier,, back up to Limehouse, then return Richmond on the Sunday, quite a few cruisers will be doing both.
