Actually, if LT at Tower Bridge is about midday:

Limehouse Lock is not available for around two hours either side of low water at London Bridge.

(takes us approx 6 mins between LB and TB)

So far there are 7 boats that I know of, hoping for more.
A few people have said they might, but until everyone registers, we don’t really know

Registration is under the events tab at the top of the page Smile

Basically you are re affirming a comment I made above. If you want to get into limehouse you need to go straight there. Even then it's tricky because the river is flowing fast when you get there.
If you time it to get to Thames barrier at tide turn then there is not enough water over the cill to get into limehouse.
If you go to thames barrier before tide turn then you are fighting tide to get back to limehouse.
The pontoons are big enough for about 6 F23s (3 each side). That means there will be a fair bit of hanging around for some folk maybe.
The challenge would be getting them in without smashing up against the portside wall.

When we turn with the tide we can just get back to Brentford but sometimes we've cut it very fine, even in the centre of the river it's tricky not to run aground.

Hi Kate,  I don't understand this....if you turned at the barrier at low tide, i.e. As it's turning then assuming it takes you 3 hours to get back the level at Brentford would be 2 hours above low tide there.

Usually I'm past the barrier when we turn. Sometimes we go past Gallions Point (another possible mooring spot if you need a marina).

Also, the tide goes out quicker than it comes in. You'll get downstream quicker than you get back Smile

Only by one hour...tower/Richmond...which is why I don’t understand why Kate says it’s low at Brentford when she has turned at LT at barrier.

Sorry Minerva, we didn't get as far as Limehouse this time. In fact we didn't get far at all! Took her out yesterday in order to overnight on the pontoon outside Brentford so we could get an early start. Whilst pootling towards Richmond we realised we had some tech issues and had to turn back.
We have a problem with the alternator. Tried and failed to buy a replacement this morning at a place we've bought other spare parts. They said it was too old and they didnt have any. Meh.

Mercury motors in teddington are good for old Ford parts.  I get most of my bits from there...bit nearer than Sheridan. The alternator also has the voltage regulator on the back. Did you notice it not charging then?

Thanks! I'll check them out. Sheridan's have them for £72 but you're right it's a trek.
Yes exactly that, the dial on the dashboard was not moving. So we returned to the marina. At least we weren't far away. Disappointing though.

I guess it would be good to double check nothing silly like the wire disconnecting between meter and alternator,  or coil in meter going (it's basically an analogue voltmeter). Check what volts is coming out the back of the alternator. It would be a shame to fork out on a new alternator only to find your meter is duff.  Sorry...bit off topic w.r.t tidal thames.

Also... others may comment on this, but I am not sure if the alternator is standard car, or whether the bushes have extra shielding due to boat use.
Sheridan do next day delivery.
...but I would still double check the existing alternator is actually duff.

Thanks Minerva, it might well be the wires, as on our boat they are definitely a bit 'cowboy'! Michael has been checking/working on them recently as we kept getting a 'hop' during sailing and he's been trying to get to the root of the problem. Some of the wiring starts off red but is then black. Really it needs completely replaced but thats a large can of worms.

all devices need positive and negative because unlike a car you can't negative earth everything. in general the reds may  be +ve  and the blacks - ve. Low tension positives normally brown. Just get your man to focus on the important wires...i.e. the ones from the key switch, coil, distributor and voltage reg/alternator. There are very few in reality. most of the wires in the cupboard are lighting which I count as a luxury!
